How to get to Ayr and Prestwick
By car
From the south, follow the A74/M74 (direction Glasgow) until Gretna. Then pick up the A75 to Dumfries, the A76 to Cumnock and the A70 to Ayr. A beautiful alternative route is the scenic Galloway Tourist Route along the A713.
From the north, just head south towards Glasgow and pick up the M77/A77. At the junction between the A77 and the A70, turn right into Ayr.
By ferry
High speed ferry services operate from Larne to Troon, Belfast to Stranraer, or Larne to Cairnryan.
By plane
Prestwick International Airport is in the heart of Ayrshire. Ryanair is the main airline flying to and from Prestwick with regular flights to London Stansted, Bournemouth, Dublin & Europe. Bmibaby operate flights from Prestwick to Cardiff and Aer Arann to Donegal.
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport is only one hour away by car or train.
By train
Trains for Ayr leave Glasgow Central Station every 30 minutes throughout the day. All trains stop at Prestwick International Airport, Prestwick Town and Ayr. Journey time is about 50 minutes.
By coach or bus
There are regular express coach links between Glasgow and Ayr. A comprehensive bus service operates throughout Ayrshire.
